Sante Moras, a former policeman now a prison guard, is accused of a murder that he did not commit.
Forced to flee Sante decides that the only way to save himself is to go all the way and seek the truth.
Thanks to the help of Fabiana Lai, a journalist who follows the case, he will discover some disconcerting truths: Sante is not the only one in danger, and he must act before other innocent girls are killed.

Collaborating with Massimiliano Mechelli was a highly synergistic process. I asked him to create a recognizable theme—a true leitmotif for the film. For this, we drew heavy inspiration from the film’s setting, Sardinia, with its unique and distinctive cultural impact.

I described the atmosphere I wanted in the film, conveying images and impressions that stemmed from the landscape and nature: the fog, the wind, the silence. Then, we delved into the emotions of the character Sante Moras, exploring his stillness and profound pain. These two elements—the landscape and the character’s emotional state—intertwine in a unique way in the film.

Massimiliano’s proposal immediately reminded me of a western, imbued with a palpable melancholy. Almost unconsciously, we found ourselves on a common path that we both liked from the start, and we moved forward in that direction. That piece became Sante Moras’ theme because, in our view, it encapsulated the film’s very essence.

While creating the soundtrack for La Coda del Diavolo we also explored more modern and less predictable directions, trying to strike a balance between tradition and innovation. Massimiliano wanted to explore the film’s electronic dimension, especially in the most intense and emotionally charged action scenes.

The result is a lively and engaging hybrid, capable of being sweet and melancholic, yet also powerful and forceful when needed.

For La Coda del Diavolo our goal from the very beginning was to create a sonic landscape that could capture the raw, rugged essence of Sardinia, infused with a hint of Western melancholy. It all started with the main theme, which I composed even before seeing the footage. After exploring Sardinian sounds, I was particularly drawn to stringed instruments and the unique singing of the Tenores di Bitti.

To achieve an even more evocative sound, I decided to use a Turkish stringed instrument, the Baglama, which brought the melancholic quality I was looking for. I paired this beautiful instrument with the deep tones I heard in the Tenores di Bitti, reimagining it by recording my own voice and manipulating the pitch to transform it into an immersive sound layer, upon which the main theme could rise.

Each track in the album is intended to be a sonic journey, a bridge between tradition and modernity, telling the story of a Sardinia suspended between reality and myth.
