Emma, jeune avocate, est la fille d'un bijoutier, ancien responsable commercial d'une société d'extraction de diamants. Etant enfant, elle a dû être évacuée avec toute sa famille, lors de l'occupation des zones minières par un mouvement rebelle qui, vingt ans plus tard, continue de résister aux forces gouvernementales, n'hésitant pas à commettre les pires atrocités. Un jour, le bâtonnier demande à Emma d'assurer la défense de Blackshouam, un rebelle capturé par l'armée. Présenté comme une véritable bête féroce enfermée dans un mutisme absolu, Blackshouam finit pourtant par se confier à la jeune femme.

Emma, a young lawyer, is the daughter of a jeweller, a former sales manager of a diamond mining company. As a child, she had to be evacuated with all her family, during the occupation of the mining zones by a rebel movement which, twenty years later, continues to resist the government forces, not hesitating to commit the worst atrocities. One day, the president asked Emma to ensure the defence of Blackshouam, a rebel captured by the army. Presented as a real ferocious beast enclosed in an absolute silence, Blackshouam ends up confide in the young woman.
