"La Luz" tells the story of Manuel, Alberto San Juan, a priest who is very well liked in his parish and who, faced with the threat of his dark past coming to light, will make a decision that will shake the very foundations of the institution that protected him.

This original and disruptive approach connects directly with the creative universe of Fernando Franco, one of the most unique voices in Spanish cinema, with a filmography focused on exploring human psychology through his characters. With “La herida,” his directorial debut, he managed to win a Goya Award for Best New Director and the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival. Following his first film as a director, he has released other titles such as “Morir” and “La consagración de la primavera” – which were also part of the official section of the San Sebastián Film Festival – and “Subsuelo,” his latest released film. Additionally, Franco is also a film editor and has been nominated for the Goya Awards for Best Editing seven times for his work on “Robot Dreams,” “Los pequeños amores,” “Un año, una noche,” “Black Beach,” “Viaje al cuarto de una madre,” “Que Dios nos perdone,” and “Blancanieves.” In “La Luz” Franco a It tackles, from a perspective as personal as it is unprecedented, the topic of handling pedophilia in the church through writing and directing, focusing on the figure of the repentant abuser.
